Loon Pair

This quilt was inspired by a pair of nesting loons seen on Marion Lake.  Loons have been pieced and are hard edge appliqued on the pieced background. The quilt is bordered with an intricate pieced saw tooth pattern.  A pattern of hand quilting mimics the clouds and waves, and features a small school of silver fish which have been sewn into the quilt for the "Loon Pair" to feast on.

Quilt is approximately 36" by 36"

"Marion Lake Loon" is an intricate hand pieced quilt which employs almost two hundred individual pieces of fabric which are sewn together to create the wonderful water and loon reflection.  This quilit features a hand painted sky complete with sunset.  Additionally, the white feathers of the loon have also been hand painted. The piece is heavily hand quilted to accent the clouds and waves.

Quilt is approximately 24" by 48" 

"Heron" is a unique quilt for many reasons.  The heron has been hard edge appliqued onto the pieced background, which incorporates the border, pond, and cattails.  Each individual feather of the heron has been appliqued separately, giving the bird a more dimensional quality. Additionally, the crest of the heron is hand beaded.  This quilt features both machine and hand quilting.

Quilt is approximately 40" by 52"

"Yellow Tulip" is actually a quilted Roman shade.  Each petal of this flower has been hand painted.  The petals, stamen and leaves have all been hard edge appliqued to the background. The pistils of the flower are hand beaded and are a stunning detail of this quilt.  Hand quilting completes this window quilt.
